She and her family members arrived at the venue around 2 p.m., just as the wedding reception was about to begin. When she questioned her husband about the second marriage, he allegedly declared triple talaq on the spot, stating, “I am divorcing you and you can do whatever you want.” The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019, criminalizes the practice of instant triple talaq, making it punishable with up to three years of imprisonment and a fine.
