Gang Paid Youths Salary to Commit Theft on Trains, 3 Held Nagpur: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has arrested three members of a gang that systematically hired unemployed youths on a fixed monthly salary to commit thefts on trains. The suspects, identified as Kailash Das (42) from Khagaria in Bihar, and Mithilesh Shah (29) and Kishan Nishad (22) from Chhattisgarh, were detained during a special operation launched by the RPF to address the rising incidents of train-related thefts. According to RPF officials, the operation uncovered an organized network behind the crimes, with the mastermind—still at large—being based in Khagaria. The gang’s modus operandi involved recruiting young, unemployed individuals and offering them a monthly salary ranging from Rs15,000 to Rs20,000. These recruits were allegedly trained in methods to execute thefts on trains, including how to bypass security measures and evade detection. The operation revealed that the gang operated across multiple regions, including Nagpur, Itwari, Bhilai, Raigarh, and Bilaspur. Officials emphasized that the arrests were part of a broader effort to dismantle such networks and restore safety for passengers. During the investigation, interrogations of the detained suspects provided critical insights into the gang’s structure and activities. The RPF official stated that the operation was a direct response to the increasing number of theft cases reported on trains, which had become a significant concern for commuters. The official noted that the gang’s operations spanned several states, indicating a level of coordination and planning that required a targeted approach. The mastermind, who remains a fugitive, is believed to have orchestrated the recruitment and training of the youths, ensuring the gang’s activities continued undetected.#railway_protection_force #kailash_das #mithilesh_shah #kishan_nishad #khagaria

Loco Pilot Dies by Suicide at Railway Hospital A Central Railway loco pilot from Tadali in Chandrapur, Sudhakar Chunarkar (59), died by suicide at the Nagpur Railway Hospital on Friday. His body was discovered hanging from a towel in the bathroom of a private ward, according to police. Chunarkar had been admitted to the hospital on Thursday after sustaining fractures in both legs following a fall from the first floor of his building on March 20. He was initially treated in Chandrapur before being transferred to the Nagpur facility. Chunarkar’s wife had left for her native place on Friday morning after the death of a relative, leaving him alone. During the day, one of his relatives waited outside the hospital while Chunarkar entered the bathroom. When he did not emerge after a prolonged period, the relative became suspicious and broke open the door, only to find him hanging. Hospital authorities promptly informed the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), and city police, with a forensic science team also arriving at the scene. The police registered the case as an accidental death, noting that no suicide note was found. Central Railway has initiated a departmental inquiry into the incident. The hospital authorities confirmed that Chunarkar’s condition had been stable prior to his admission, and there were no immediate indications of distress during his treatment. The incident has raised questions about the mental health support available to railway employees, particularly those dealing with injuries sustained in workplace accidents.#railway_protection_force #central_railway #sudhakar_chunarkar #nagpur_railway_hospital #government_railway_police
