RPF personnel, accompanied by Prince, conducted routine checks on the Chandigarh-Madurai Express as it arrived at Platform No. 2 around 8:50 am. During the inspection of Coach M-1, two trolley bags and a plastic sack were found suspiciously placed under a seat. Prince immediately alerted his handlers to the presence of contraband within the luggage. Passengers seated nearby were questioned, but none claimed ownership of the bags. With the train already departing Nagpur, the RPF team swiftly transported the suspicious baggage to Sewagram station and returned to Nagpur via the Grand Trunk Express. The bags were later opened at the RPF police station in Nagpur under CCTV surveillance. The inspection revealed 44 bottles of foreign liquor, which were then handed over to the Excise Department’s Flying Squad for legal proceedings. A case was registered under the relevant provisions of the Prohibition Act. The operation highlights the effectiveness of canine units in detecting illicit items during transportation.
