Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas starrer Varanasi becomes first Indian film shot In Antarctica; creates history on Ross Ice Shelf SS Rajamouli’s ambitious epic Varanasi starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra Jonas is already making headlines for its scale. The film has now even achieved a historic milestone even before release. The upcoming action-adventure has become the first Indian film to be shot in Antarctica and only the fourth feature film in cinematic history to have sequences actually filmed on the frozen continent. Globally, only three feature films — South of Sanity (2012), The Odyssey (2016), and Virus (1980))— have previously shot scenes in Antarctica. Many films set in the region, such as The Thing and Eight Below, relied on visual effects or alternative locations, with no actual filming taking place on the continent. Meanwhile, Scott of the Antarctic featured pre-production landscape footage captured on location, but its principal photography began elsewhere. Adding to the achievement, Varanasi is reportedly the first film ever to cover the Ross Ice Shelf on screen, marking another cinematic first. The development positions the film among a rare category of global productions that have braved one of the harshest terrains on Earth for authentic storytelling. Directed by S. S. Rajamouli, who co-wrote the film with V. Vijayendra Prasad and S. S. Kanchi, Varanasi is mounted as a large-scale globetrotting adventure rooted in Indian cultural themes. SCOOP: Budget math stalls Krrish 4 - Hrithik’s Rs. 500 cr. vision vs Aditya Chopra’s Rs. 350 cr. cap! Hrithik Roshan as Krrish is one of the most celebrated characters of Indian Cinema, and the last decade has seen a pent-up demand from the audience to see the return of this franchise for the fourth time. Hrithik was receptive to the audience and announced Krrish 4 in association with Yash Raj Films. This time around, the actor is donning a dual hat - of an actor and a director too, as Krrish 4 is to mark his debut as a director. But it seems that the fans will have to wait a little longer for Krrish 4. Reliable sources have confirmed that Krrish 4 has gone on back-burner as Hrithik Roshan and Aditya Chopra are not aligning on the budget of this superhero epic. "Hrithik Roshan wants to make the film at a huge budget close to Rs. 500 crores, and Aditya Chopra believes that it's essential to have an upper cap to the film around the Rs. 350 crore mark. After multiple rounds of discussions, the duo have at the moment put Krrish 4 on the back burner," a source told Bollywood Hungama. Hrithik is meanwhile exploring the possibilities of collaborating with another studio on Krrish 4, and also reworking the script, keeping budget restrictions in mind. "Hrithik is also a practical guy and has taken Aditya Chopra's feedback positively. He is relooking at certain feedback given by Adi, and at the same time in talks with other studios to fund the film. He is also looking to st... #Hrithik_Roshan #Krrish #Chopra #Hrithik #Aditya_Chopra #math_stalls #stalls_Krrish #SCOOP #Aditya #Roshan

Priyanka Chopra, Varanasi and the question of a Telugu debut; was the Ram Charan starrer Thoofan forgotten? The Varanasi team’s widely circulated interview with Screen Rant features a rather awkward moment. When the interviewer asks Priyanka Chopra about her Telugu debut in Varanasi, the actor says she cannot remember when she last did a Telugu film. Mahesh Babu quickly steps in to add, “This is her first Telugu film. ”But that is not entirely accurate. Priyanka Chopra had, in fact, featured in the Telugu version of the Amitabh Bachchan classic Zanjeer in 2013. Titled Thoofan, the Ram Charan starrer had Priyanka playing his love interest in what was admittedly a small role. At the time, Chopra had expressed considerable gratitude to the makers of Thoofan, as opportunities in Bollywood were scarce for her then. A senior member of the Thoofan team views her current statement as a case of selective amnesia. “When we signed her for Thoofan, nobody in the Hindi film industry was willing to sign her. We ourselves felt the role was not substantial enough for a future global star like her. But she was eager and did the role happily. Now she seems to have forgotten her Telugu debut altogether,” the team member says. Sources suggest that the Varanasi team is keen to position the film as Priyanka Chopra’s Telugu debut. But should that come at the cost of factual accuracy? Also Read: Priyanka Chopra Jonas reveals her ONLY request for Varanasi was to dance: “Poor Mahesh Babu had to... #Priyanka_Chopra #Priyanka #Chopra #Telugu_debut #Telugu #Varanasi #Ram_Charan #Screen_Rant #Telugu_film #Varanasi_team

Priyanka Chopra Jonas cast as female lead in Hrithik Roshan’s Krrish 4 It is confirmed! Priyanka Chopra Jonas is back in Bollywood. Sources confirmed that she has been finalized for the female lead of the fourth segment of Hrithik Roshan’s Krrish. For those who came in late, Priyanka played the lead in the last two instalments of Krrish. She then headed westwards for stardom and marriage. She is back in Indian cinema with SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi, and now into Bollywood with Krrish 4. Her last Bollywood assignment was Shonali Bose’s The Sky Is Pink in 2019, after which she was finalized for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi. But the role slipped out of Priyanka’s fingers at the last minute and went to Alia Bhatt. This is where S S Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu stepped in. A source in the know revealed what happened next: “Unlike the A-listers in Bollywood, Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu had absolutely no problem working with Priyanka. They treated her like the cinema royalty that she is, offered her the money that she gets in the West, which is much more than what she ever got for any Hindi film, and expanded her role when she stepped in. ”A source very close to the project revealed that Priyanka has become very close to Mahesh Babu, his wife Namrata and their daughter Sitara. “This is Priyanka’s gateway into Bollywood via Telugu cinema. She has chosen to represent Indian cinema on a global platform through Rajamouli’s cinematic universe,” informed a hotshot Bollywood f... #Chopra_Jonas #Hrithik_Roshan #Priyanka_Chopra #Jonas_cast #Mahesh_Babu #Krrish #Priyanka #Bollywood #Chopra #Jonas
