Central Railway Relocates Taxi Pick-Up Zone At Nagpur Station For Passenger Convenience Nagpur: Central Railway's Nagpur Division has relocated the taxi pick-up zone at Nagpur Railway Station to a more accessible location near the main entrance of the heritage building, aiming to improve passenger convenience and boost usage of the newly revived prepaid cab service. The move follows a period of uncertainty for the service, which had been suspended for nearly 18 months before resuming operations around two weeks ago. The previous pick-up point, located near the dome area of Platform No. 1, was deemed inconvenient for passengers, particularly senior citizens, families with children, and travelers carrying heavy luggage. The new location, situated approximately 200 metres from the former site, is now directly visible to passengers exiting the station, making it easier to locate and access. The relocation was supervised by divisional railway manager Vinayak Garg and senior divisional commercial manager Aman Mittal. Railway officials anticipate that the change will enhance the visibility of the service and encourage greater patronage of the prepaid cabs, which are designed to provide seamless last-mile connectivity at one of Central India's busiest railway stations. The shift comes amid reports of a subdued initial response to the service, with factors such as RTA-approved fares and an additional ₹50 convenience charge potentially influencing commuter preferences. Bharat Cabs, the operator of the prepaid service, has expressed plans to expand its operations beyond Nagpur. A representative from Bharat Cabs noted that the new pick-up zone is more visible and convenient, and the company has sought permission to introduce a service on the east (Cotton Market) side gate.#central_railway #vinayak_garg #aman_mittal #nagpur_station #bharat_cabs

Prepaid Taxi Service Streamlines Commute for Nagpur Railway Station Passengers Passengers at Nagpur railway station have benefited from a new prepaid taxi service that simplifies the process of booking rides after arriving at the station. The initiative, launched by Bharat Cabs Online, aims to alleviate the challenges of navigating crowded areas, heavy luggage, and unreliable cab availability. The service, which is set to operate fully from June 15, has already seen positive feedback during a three-day dry run, with passengers praising its convenience and transparency. The prepaid model eliminates the need for app downloads, as passengers can book cabs by scanning QR codes at dedicated counters within the station. This feature is particularly beneficial for elderly individuals, women, families with children, and people with mobility challenges, who previously faced difficulties in securing reliable transportation. "The fares are fixed according to approved rates, and the booking process is simple and convenient," said Alankar, a passenger who used the service on Sunday. Himanshu Gujjar, another user, added, "Now, we don’t have to go outside the station to find a cab. It has made travel from the railway station much easier." The service’s success during the dry run has encouraged Bharat Cabs Online to expand its operations. Currently, 50 drivers are already on board, with more expected to join in the coming weeks. The company also anticipates collaboration with other cab operators to increase availability, though challenges such as traffic congestion and the presence of autorickshaws outside the station remain significant hurdles.#nagpur_railway_station #vinayak_garg #bharat_cabs_online #alankar #himanshu_gujjar

50-plus Nagpur Woman Completes Two Ironman Triathlons in Less Than Seven Months Deepa Garg, a 50-something woman from Nagpur, has made history by becoming likely the first Indian woman to finish two full Ironman 140.6 triathlons within less than seven months. Her remarkable achievement includes conquering two vastly different climates—near-freezing seawater in California and scorching heat in Vietnam—demonstrating extraordinary endurance and adaptability. The Nagpur-based athlete, married to Vinayak Garg, a senior railway official, completed the Ironman California event on October 19 last year and the Ironman Vietnam race in Da Nang on May 10 this year. Despite facing cramps, injuries, and challenging weather conditions, Deepa improved her performance in Vietnam, finishing the race in 15 hours and 30 minutes. This marked a significant improvement over her California finish, which took more than 16 hours. The Ironman 140.6 is renowned as one of the world’s toughest endurance events, requiring participants to swim 3.8 km, cycle 180 km, and run a full marathon of 42.2 km within strict time limits. In California, Deepa battled near-freezing seawater and harsh cold, enduring physical and mental strain to cross the finish line. Just six months later, she faced the opposite extreme in Vietnam, where intense heat, high humidity, and strong crosswinds made the race exceptionally demanding. During the Vietnam race, Deepa encountered cramps almost immediately after starting the cycling leg, which persisted through the marathon. She described the event as a "true test of physical and mental strength," emphasizing the challenges posed by the weather and conditions.#nagpur #vinayak_garg #deepa_garg #ironman_california #ironman_vietnam
